(Jan 25) The results of our first poll for the SCCN turned out to be a tie! Please feel free to vote on the polls at any time, it only takes a few seconds, and it allows your opinion to be heard by all. (Jan 19) Yesterday marked yet another venture forward for the SCCN as we continue to try and give the users of the SCCN an interactive web experience during their stay with us. As most of you probably noticed, we now have an online poll available for everyone to vote on. Currently, the question is "What should the next poll be about for the SCCN?". These polls will last for a week at a time, and will change periodically (typically between 1 and 2 weeks). So go and register your vote, and make a difference with the SCCN, and see what the majority of the people using the SCCN think about these topics.

(Jan 11) As some of you may have noticed, the Main Page (Start Page) of the SCCN has changed a little bit today. I have added 2 new links to our pages.
- Symantec Virus Hoax List, which is a site maintained by Symantec (one of the world leaders in Anti-Virus Products). This page contains the latest "Virus Hoaxes" out on the Internet, and allows you to rest your fears about viruses through your Email. If it's listed on that site as a hoax, then it's a hoax, case closed.
- The SCCN now has it's own local chat area!!! This page is still in early development, but is now functional, and ready to be tested and enjoyed. If anyone has any problems at all, please let me know by emailing me at tpatton@shelburne.nscc.ns.ca

(Dec 9) InnoculateIT has now released their long awaited update to their antivirus software, and it is now available for download from the Software Pages. I have also updated the Dat-Files for InnoculateIT as well. This is important to note, because if you wish to continue to update your InnoculateIT, you will first have to update from verison 4.5 to version 5.0, because the new Dat-Files will not work with the old scanner. So please be careful when updating your InnoculateIT, and be sure to update to the latest and greatest software, so you can hopefully keep your computer Virus Free.

(Nov 18) The SCCN would like to congratulate Tim Patton (originally from the Lockeport area) for his achievements at the 35th World Skills Competition. As some of you may already know Tim previously won 1st place at the Provincial Skills Competition (Hosted by Skills Nova Scotia) and then went on to win 1st place at the Canadian Skills Competition (Hosted by Skills Canada) in the trade PC & Network Support (Trade 45). This allowed Tim to move on to the International Competition, where he would face competitors from all over the world. The 35th World Skills Competition was held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada from November 11th through to November 14th. After all was said and done, Tim Patton won 3rd place overall in his competition. Job well done Tim, congratulations, and keep up the good work.

(Nov 2) Following the introduction of "How things work" yesterday, to the Incredible Discoveries Pages I was sent yet another "How Things Work" website!!! So I have rename the one I added yesteday to "How things work (Virgina EDU)" and have added the new "How things work" to the IDP. Both sites contain a fabulous amount of information, and is a must see for anyone who is curious by nature.

(Nov 1) Probably one of the favorite features of the SCCN is our Incredible Discoveries, which is great because once again we have discovered site that has the qualities of an Incredible Discovery! The site is called How Things Work, and it is an incredible database of information. It contains the answers to some questions you may have asked others before, questions that you've thought of to yourself (such as how does a microwave actually cook food?), and even questions that you never really thought of before. It gets better though! If you have a question, and it's not listed there, just drop them an email, and they'll find the answer for you! It's great for educational research and just for your own personal knowledge, so give it a try!
